I wrote this project in 2020, during the pandemic, a period when I was examining my ethical positions. At the beginning of that year I posted a video about plant-based diets and someone commented: “Reducing meat consumption is pointless because plants feel pain too.” My instinct was to dismiss it as a bad-faith attempt to
